You Are An Overcomer

By: Joel Osteen

God created you to be an overcomer! Sometimes, it’s easy to get down and discouraged when things aren’t going the way you planned. If you go around thinking, “It’s never going to work out” or “It’s never going to get better”, you limit what God can do. But if, when you face difficulties, you dig your heels in—knowing that God is bigger than your problems—your faith will open the door for God to turn your negative situation around!

Isaiah 54:17 says that, “No weapon formed against you will prosper. This is your heritage as children of the Lord.” Notice you have a heritage. You have rights and privileges because you belong to Christ. As long as you keep God first place in your life, you have a hedge of protection around you, a hedge of favor, and a hedge of mercy. When difficulties come, because you are His child and honor Him, those difficulties won’t prosper in your life. When it’s all said and done, God will take what the enemy meant for evil and turn it around for your good.

Declare over yourself, by faith, that you will overcome every obstacle. Declare that every dream and desire God placed in your heart will come to pass. Declare that you have the favor of God and that whatever you set your hand to will prosper.

As you speak those words of faith, the Lord will work on your behalf and you will live as an overcomer all the days of your life!

You’re not a survivor. You are more than a conqueror.

It’s easy to get into a survival mode. When times get tough and things aren’t going our way, it’s tempting to just settle where we are, not believe for increase and not believe to go any further. It’s tempting to think, “If I can just hold on. If I can just make it through another year.” If we’re not careful, we’ll develop a survival mentality to where we’re not releasing our faith.

We’re not believing to rise any higher. We’re just hoping to maintain. We’d be satisfied if we could just break even. But we’re not supposed to break even. We’re supposed to break through to a new level, to more of God’s favor, increase and promotion.

God says in the book of Jeremiah that if we’ll keep the Lord as our trust and confidence, God will prosper us even in the desert. He’ll prosper us even in difficult times. That means when others are going under God says you’ll go over!

God can prosper us even in the desert if we’ll just be bold enough to believe. You were created to thrive in life! Won’t you believe that for your life today?

Today’s Scripture

“I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel” Philippians 1:12 (ESV).

Today’s Word from Joel and Victoria

We all could learn quite a bit from the apostle Paul. He was deliriously happy and joyous because of what Christ had done in his life. Even when he was chained and shackled in a dark prison because of his faith, Paul praised God and was excited to deliver his message of the gospel. He says in Philippians 1 that he knew he was suffering for a purpose and that he rejoiced because of the advancement of God’s message even when he couldn’t be out preaching the gospel.

My friend, you can’t defeat a person who gives God praise no matter what! And the best part is that God can work in your life the same way He worked in Paul’s. God can turn some of the worst possible situations into some of the most worthwhile experiences if you have the right attitude. Praise God today . . . no matter what!

A Prayer for Today

God, I realize that You can take even my bad days and accomplish something great for Your glory. Thank You for the way You display Your power and love in my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Today’s Scripture

“Great peace have those who love Your law and nothing shall make them stumble” (Psalm 119:65).

Everything you need in this life is found in the Word of God–direction, healing, peace, joy and provision. No matter what situation you maybe facing today, you can live in peace and victory by knowing God’s Word and applying it your life.

Notice this verse says that the people who love God’s Word have great peace. How do you show your love for God and His Word? By studying it, meditating on it, and obeying His commands. Today’s Scripture

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you” (Psalm 32:8).

Today’s Word from Joel and Victoria

Do you need direction in your life today? Maybe you are facing an important decision in your job, at home, or in your relationships. Know this: God, Himself, will teach you what you should do. He promises to show you the path you should take.

He’s watching over you and giving you advice every step of the way. See, God’s not just concerned with the goal, or end result. It’s not just about getting you from point “A” to point “B.” He is with you every step of the way during the entire process. He wants to see your character develop and mature. Most times, our growth in life happens when circumstances seem to be the most uncertain. Those uncertain times cause us to rely more on God. No matter how uncertain things may seem, God still has His eye on you. He’s making sure you make the right choices. He’s working with you to shape your character and attitude.

Remember, He’s promised to never leave you or forsake you. You may not always know the answer right away, but He’s instructing you and teaching you and leading you into blessing all the days of your life.

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, thank You for teaching and guiding me and giving me direction in my life. I receive Your counsel today. Help me to be more like You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today’s Scripture

“Set your mind and heart to seek (inquire of and require as your vital necessity) the Lord your God.” (I Chronicles 22:19 AMP).

Today’s Word from Joel and Victoria

What things do you consider a vital necessity in your life? What can’t you live without? Most people would immediately think of food, water, and shelter, but in reality, we can’t really live unless our minds and hearts are set on seeking the Lord.

Sure, you can exist without seeking Him, but you are called to more than just mere existence. You are called to live…to thrive…to enjoy your life abundantly! The good news is that you have complete control over what you set your mind and heart on. You decide what you think about. I encourage you today; set your mind and heart on seeking the Lord! Write down your favorite scriptures and commit them to memory.

Whenever you can, think about those verses. Meditate on God and His infinite love. Make a habit of seeking Him and ask Him to reveal Himself to you. When you require the Lord as a vital necessity, you will truly enjoy living the abundant life He has in store for you!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, today I choose to set my mind on You. I seek You with my whole heart. Show me your love and character today. Show me Your ways that I may walk and live closely with you. I love you. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

There are all kinds of voices and thoughts we can tune in to each day. Just like a radio station, there are hundreds of different frequencies that are available. There is the negative frequency that says, “You’ll never accomplish your dreams”, “You’ll never get well”, “You’ll never get married.” Then, there is the “Voice of Victory” frequency.

The “Voice of Victory” is found in God’s Word. It says, “You are blessed.” “You are prosperous”, “You can do all things”, “Your best days are still ahead”. Despite the many voices you hear today, the key is to keep the negative voices from getting deposited into your spirit.

The scripture says in Philippians 4:8 to “Think on things that are pure, things that are wholesome, things that are of a good report.” When you latch on to the “Voice of Victory” and let these faith-filled thoughts take deep root in your heart, your faith will produce a positive harvest, and you will live that victorious life!
